Patterson'/>
What one student said about the first portion of my novel: The Silver Sheen

What is it? This is a story about two children born of nature one with a white staff, one with a crimson staff who can commune with the Faye a mystical energy, one child name Desek is raised by faeries and grows up to become a wizard while the other child is raised by a woman with red hair and grows up to become an evil sorcerer. As a young man Desek goes into Ruiska learn of bartering but is confronted by a dark mysterious man then flees back to him with the faeries before going into hiding for 5 yrs. After emerging from hiding Desek finds that the faeries have been attacked by some creatures. While tuning in with the faye Desek witnesses the Sorcerer with the crimson staff attack an army of men in a city before stealing a grey stone bowl from the statue of a woman in a fountain. After leaving the city in flames and returning to the desert the stone woman turns to sand and the water in the fountain that was the towns source of thriving turns to past and is absorbed back into the earth. Desek who is a good wizard must then go on a journey to find and defeat the evil sorcerer.

How does it work? This story works by starting out telling the reader how Desek and the evil sorcerer came into being and what their relationship with the Faye is. Powerful description and movement throughout the story allows the reader to be drawn in. There is a good balance of detail and description of personalities that still allows room for the readers imagination.

Is it successful? Yes, this story is successful because it keeps the reader engaged and intrigues/entices the reader to want to know more about how the characters are relevant to one another. This is a good fantasy piece. I want to know more and look forward to reading the completed work.

The Wanderer, Book Two of The Silver Sheen

Drake, a young dragon has been captured by the evil sorcerer, Erith Moregod.
